Melodie Eiteljorge
Employee Recognition Winner 2002
Multi-tasking is a common part of today’s library jobs. None of
us seem to have the opportunity to focus on one assignment — gently
leading it to its conclusion. This honoree has been praised as a master
of multi-tasking. Her work is regularly interrupted by people who require
immediate and professional attention. Whether she is addressing a library
employee, a library friend, or fielding an urgent call from the Provost,
she is ’unfailingly polite, good natured, and responsive”.
This year and last, she provided timely and enthusiastic support for
two major library projects, the Self-Study and Strategic Planning. Working
with multiple authors and multiple formats, she coordinated the creation
of single documents. And, for Strategic Planning, coordinated arrangements
coming through multiple channels adjusting to last minute changes without
missing a beat.
She has regularly taken classes and developed new skills —making
her increasingly valuable to the Library —and to me in my role
as Director of Libraries.
Today I have the honor of honoring an individual whose achievements
are visible right outside my door —Melodie Eiteljorge.
