Marcy Simons
Employee Recognition Winner 2000

A number of today’s honorees have been described as "quiet". This honoree, however, is known for "not so quiet" ways. Although, viewed as a good listener, this employee is best known as a speaker. This is a person who cares about the organization, who forms thoughtful opinions on issues, who speaks on behalf of these issues and on behalf of other individuals, and who is willing to work on problem solving.

A strong performer within her Department, she enjoys looking at librarywide and campuswide issues. For this reason, she volunteers for committees within and beyond the library. She has helped bring attention to numerous staff issues and is currently collaborating on a library plan for "upwards evaluation". She is the chair of the Ad-Hoc Committee on Women’s Issues, a member of the University Staff Advisory Committee, and a columnist for the staff newsletter. An energetic and enthusiastic long-term contributor to the University Library system and to the campus community, Marcy Simons well deserves our recognition.
