This individual has a special talent for focused leadership. Her clear understanding of her Department’s objectives, her patience, and her strong communication skills were essential this year as she led her area through a series of uncharted adventures.

At a time when work exceeded staffing and the ALEPH operations were still under development, she served as a calm beacon. She guided staff in setting priorities and in taking pride in maintaining outstanding levels of accuracy. Using humor, knowledge, and sensitivity, she led staff in adopting new, and sometimes demanding, procedures.

As a Unit Leader, she describes her Department’s objectives to other groups throughout the Library. Able to recognize the needs of other units while voicing her own priorities, she is a strong and successful communicator. This afternoon we honor a model of communication and focus – Lou Ellen Parent.
