The University Library has long prided itself on being a service-oriented organization. Evidence of this commitment can be seen in innumerable ways. One key component is the person at the desk. This award winning desk assistant has been called one of the "shining stars of public service". This person combines solid job knowledge, a positive attitude, and independent thinking to solve patron problems and to ease access to library resources.

This staff member’s creativity and artistic talents have made the library just a little more fun for its users and for the staff. Her monthly calendars and seasonal decorations at the Circulation desk have earned smiles and praise from weary undergraduates. Staff throughout the library know her Golden-Goose-related creations–"Touch-down Maureen," "the Pork Belly Pig," and Santa’s sleigh. Today we honor a service leader and the "queen of other duties as assigned" – Kristie Clark.
