| Jean Cane Many people in the library could be honored for their hard work and dedication. This individual has demonstrated these important qualities plus a continuing quest for knowledge. Promoted into a new position, this self-starter initiated an intensive, independent learning program to master the material. Often cramming late into the night and on weekends, this supervisor developed the expertise to stand as a leader before the staff. New expertise, however, was just one aspect of her leadership. Her
success was and is now, supported by her "quiet confidence, unending
patience, enviable sense of humor" and "belief in the capabilities
of her staff". In this, her first year in the position of supervisor
of the Government Document Department/Bibliographic Access Management
Team, she has streamlined procedures, reduced backlogs, and "revolutionized
the Government Documents Department". Today we honor a
model of self development and team development–Jean Cane. |
