This individual is described by the nominator as a rather quiet person who never draws attention to himself. He regularly, however, graces the Libraries with his talents and hard work. This year this mild-mannered guy performed superhuman public feats as he juggled an array of personalities and egos as he and the Screen Design Committee mastered the most important public aspect of ALEPH – its Web face.

Working with a talented committee, he helped create clear, intuitive ALEPH screens. His writings to LIBMigr8 in response to queries and complaints have been masterpieces of diplomacy. He has transformed irate faculty detractors into system supporters through his careful correspondence, intelligent answers, and visible responsiveness.

We honor Doug Archer for a year of patient listening and outstanding leadership.
