| SAC May 2004 Meeting Minutes We had our SAC meeting today and here is an overview of what was discussed. First of all I had received a question about having to retire at the age of 70, unfortunately our HR rep had to leave before I had the chance to ask the question but one member did tell me that the university does require you to start receiving your pension at the age of 70 but you can keep working and receive your pension at the same time, but as far as having to retire by 70 that question will get answered at the next meeting. We are in need of a rep for district 27 due to the elimination of the hall monitor positions. It was brought up as to whether the monitors were offered another position but no one knew the answer to that question. Good news for the employees at St. Michael's laundry, they have been struggling with having enough work and so the full time employees were not getting their 40 hrs. They were allowed to go off campus and see if they could get business that way so as of October 1st. they will have a contract with the Marriott hotel downtown to take care of their linens. If you happen to buy your batteries at Batteries + on Day Rd. they offer a discount to ND employees. We are trying to compile a list of all the area businesses that offer a discount to us so I will pass it on to you when we get it done. At our next meeting ( June 1st) we will have the honor of being visited by the new VP of the university Mr. Affleck-Graves. CORRECTION: I have a correction from my SAC meeting minutes. I was told at the
meeting that at the retirement age of 62 you could start collecting
your pension. This is not the case, it used to be that way but has since
changed. There Thank you,
