SAC March 2008 Meeting Minutes
Denise Murphy was at our March meeting to help explain some issues such
as sick/vacation time, pension formulas.
There has been some confusion about how sick and vacation times is
accrued, mainly for those who are paid hourly and do not work a regular
shift (for example, food service)
Sick time has always been accrued by how many hours are worked.
Vacation time is accrued by the hours you are scheduled to work. This
effects those who may work at Sorin's and are scheduled to work 11-4 but
get sent home early because business is slow. These workers thought that
they were missing out on vacation time accrual because they did not work
their complete shift. HR was surprised as to how many people this
affected on campus, so that is why it was made to have it based on hours
that you are scheduled to work.
As of right now there are no plans to offer a retirement buyout to ND
employees.
Pension formula will stay the same. Competitive with other plans.
We have requested that speed bumps be put in on the road that comes into
the Hesburgh circle (runs between the B lot and ROTC building). There
have been complaints about buses and cars speeding. Also several speed
bumps on Cavanaugh drive (leads to LaFortune). I will let you know when
I hear about what was decided.
I am on the Promotions Committee. We have been working a few projects to
support our Relay for Life team "Fiesta for a Cure".
I will be posting the information on the bulletin board outside of
stacks, those in the branches you will receive yours through campus
mail. I also have links on the SAC web page.
* First is Hacienda Fund raiser night. Wednesday April 16th at the Grape Road Hacienda. All you need to do is dine at Hacienda, present your token (must have token before you go to Hacienda, we can not pass them out on sight) and SAC will receive 20% kick back from your check total. I must add that day happens to be $1.00

These tokens can be used by anyone not just ND staff, so pass them out
to friends and family.

We were lucky enough to receive some really great prizes from area
