SAC meeting July 15th

There is still room for any one interested in the JACC tour today from 1:00-2:00 meet at gate 2. The tour will take approx. 40 minutes.

Denise Murphy was at the meeting to discuss some questions about benefits. There has been some concern about SS#'s being on our insurance cards. By Sept. 1st Advantage will be issuing new cards with out the SS# on them. Medco is not able to do this at this time due to their computer program.

If any one uses the mail order prescription service with Medco and you are submitting the receipt for reimbursement from your flex spending account you will need to send the whole sheet, some people have only been sending the top half but they need the whole sheet to have all of the information.

I had mentioned in a earlier email that you could go to the Medco web site and receive a print out of your prescription activity to submit for your flex account. Well I had tried that and they sent me a letter saying that they didn't have enough information for me to receive my money. Well apparently I didn't go to the right page, you need to click on "prescription expenses" and that will give them the information they need.

If you receive your prescriptions by mail order you may be paying more for your medicine than if you went to your local pharmacy. One reason may be that they are sending you the non generic which is more expensive. You can check on their web site the cost of mail order compared to going to your local pharmacy.

Remember to register for your parking permit before they expire on August 21st. For those who can't or don't want to register on line can go to the security building and use their computers that they have set up or request the paper form.

Since we are on the subject of parking there will be no charge for parking this year. They will be distributing the new parking lot access cards. These cards will be "proximity cards" which means instead of inserting the card into the slot you will pass the card in front of the sensor. You only have to be 10-15 inches from the sensor for the gate to open. These cards will be distributed before winter.

There were some questions about the pension statement that everyone received that showed your estimated retirement benefits. The question was about the 3% used to figure out your retirement earnings. This 3% is an average and at this time HR is not able to change the percentage due to the software. This software is not user friendly for HR so they will be looking into another program to use. They use your actual salary to date so obviously that can change over the course of time. We also were shown survey results comparing the cost of our insurance premiums compared to other universities and companies that participated in the survey. Notre Dame has some of the lowest rates paid by employees. That is just something I thought would be interesting to share with you.

I will hang up the handouts we received at the meeting, one is a copy of the pension letter and the other is about Medco drug benefit.

The next meeting is August 12th so let me know if you have any thing for me to take to that meeting.
