| SAC February 2005 Meeting At this month SAC meeting we welcomed newly elected members from the odd districts. New officers were also elected and they are Chairperson Lisa Yates, Vice Chair Kathy Stopczynski, Secretary/Treasurer Sharon Konopka. There was some discussion about the "time away from work" focus groups. We discussed rumors that had been heard around campus. If anyone hears anything and you aren't sure if it is true you can either contact me and I can find out from HR or you can contact John Whelan, he is our HR liaison and would be happy to answer any questions. Along with that if you have any ideas that you would like to share about the time away from work please share them with John or Violet Bloom. Some questions were raised as to why the university didn't send out questionnaires along with having focus groups. John answer was, with having 4,100 employees it would have been too difficult to get an actual reading on what everyone would like to see. Ad-Hoc women's issues committee asked if we could change our name by dropping the word issues from the title. SAC voted and so now the committee will be called "Ad-Hoc women's committee". The reason we asked for the change was because the committee has received a couple of complaints asking why the committee didn't deal with more political issues and we felt that it is not our place to do so and with only having 1 hour for the lunch and learns that it is not sufficient time to do so. If you have any questions or concerns for next month's meeting (March 10th) please let me know. I would also like to say thank you for letting me continue to serve on the SAC committee. Joy |
