Student Employment

During the academic year student employees are hired through the University's Student Employment Office, a division of the Office of Financial Aid. The majority of the hiring is done at the beginning of each academic year, usually in late August. Interested applicants should obtain authorization from the Student Employment Office and may apply directly to the Libraries at 221 Theodore M. Hesburgh Library once authorization is obtained.

Summer Student Employment

Summer employment is processed through the Administrative Office of the Libraries for Hesburgh Library and the branch libraries (not including law), usually beginning in early March. Although no financial aid authorization is required for summer employment, the University Libraries hires according to the following priorities:

  • current or incoming Notre Dame students college age
  • children of Notre Dame faculty and staff
  • children of faculty and staff who are still enrolled in high school and are at least 16 years old
  • all others
