| Orientation It is the responsibility of the individual department to acquaint the new employee with their duties and job expectations, rules/regulations, and policies regarding conduct and employment. The first weeks on the job are the best opportunity management has to set a tone for the employee’s entire period of employment. An effective orientation process has been shown to produce the following results: · Improved employee morale In order to assist the departmental supervisor or manager in providing a thorough orientation to the job, the Supervisor’s Orientation Checklist included on the website should be used as a guide. The checklist covers the first week on the job. It is important to dispense the information over time rather than overloading the employee with information on the first day. During the first couple of weeks, it is also important to have a daily check-in with the new employee to ensure that any questions or concerns can be addressed. Please be sure to direct them to the new hire orientation website for their reference!
