Minutes of the August 29, 2006 TERMinators meeting

Present: Nastia Guimaraes, Ben Heet, Mary Lehman, Tom Lehman, Marina Smyth

Tom announced that he anticipates doing a presentation at a Collection Development Forum, possibly in September. He will give attendees an update on guidelines for assigning resources to DDW subject and the -----(General) pages in order to build consensus and communicate more broadly about the guidelines that TERMinators is developing.

Today we made a first pass at applying the guidelines to the "Arts and Humanities (General)" page. Currently the page has 67 non-journal resources. In our review we reduced the number of resources by about two thirds.

Characteristics of resources about which we were somewhat uncertain as to whether they are appropriate for the "Arts and Humanities (General)" page are geographical and/or chronological limitations.

In preparation for our next meeting, Tom will send us the current version of the guidelines. We are to review today's tentative decisions in light of the guidelines and identify how the guidelines could be expanded to give further guidance on resources about which we are uncertain.
