Minutes of the August 1, 2006 TERMinators meeting

Present at the meeting: Tom Lehman, Mary Lehman, Ben Heet, Hector Escobar, and Nastia Guimaraes.

Agenda:

1. Finalize guidelines.
2. Draft process for communicating and consulting on resources we think should be removed from, or added to the page.
3. Apply guidelines to General and Multidisciplinary page.

The meeting started with the discussion of the first item on the agenda - the guidelines for assigning resources to General and Multidisciplinary page that Tom drafted. Much time was spent on the discussion of the criteria that would prescribe certain resources to be included / excluded from the General and Multidisciplinary page. The group decided to differentiate between resource's scope and usefulness and made some corrections to the original guidelines.

Once the group reached a consensus that resources on General and Multidisciplinary page should fall into at least two subject general groupings (i.e. Arts and Humanities (General), Social Sciences (General), or Science and Technology (General)), the group moved to the third item on the agenda.

First twenty resources from the General and Multidisciplinary page were reviewed and the newly drafted guidelines were applied to each. Out of those resources, Terminators selected six that did not meet the requirements for staying on the General and Multidisciplinary page.

The rest of the resources listed on the General and Multidisciplinary page will be reviewed during the next meeting.

Additionally, the group did not spend time on the second agenda item, which will also be addressed during the next meeting.
