Minutes of the Oct. 12, 2005 TERMinators meeting

Present: Nastia Guimaraes, Ben Heet, Alan Krieger, Mary Lehman, Tom Lehman, Laurie McGowan, Chris Poehlmann, Kathie Ryan-Zeugner, Linda Sharp, Marina Smyth

Tom welcomed new members Ben Heet, Chris Poehlmann, and Marina Smyth. He also expressed thanks to members going off the group: Mark Dehmlow, Alan Krieger, and Laurie McGowan.

Even though Laurie is going off the group, she offered to continue doing the scheduling for the group in CorporateTime. Thank you Laurie!

Tom had met with the new members prior to the meeting to help bring them up to speed. New members will subsequently share in the rotation of minutes taking.

The group continued work on the facet "Notre Dame Libraries." Prior to the meeting Tom had issued via e-mail his own "Draft review of the terms in the facet Notre Dame Libraries." We reviewed the four "tests" for term inclusion to the DDW (database-driven website):

the proposed term is appropriate to

create a dynamic page
push out to campus portal
customize pages (add or delete)
also, applies to two or more resources

Tom reported that currently the campus portal is not pulling in library resources, through no fault on the libraries' part. Library homepage customization is also not currently available, but is being planned.

The group agreed with Linda's suggestion to move forward with Tom's six proposed terms: Emergency information; help; hours; policies; services; and subject specialists. As a next step we are to review the resources linked to the "Getting Help" tab on the library homepage. Keeping in mind the "test" points, we are to assess how well these resources can be assigned to various of the six provisional terms. Group members are to forward their findings to TERMinators' list by next Wednesday.
