1. Review the Power Point presentation TL developed for the Collection
Development Forum # 1. The TERMinators discussed the CD forum at length. We discussed what was essential to include in the presentation, who would present the information, and the order of presentation. TL will revise his PowerPoint demo to reflect our suggestions. The committee felt a good general outline of the presentation would be
* Overview of DDW in context of our work Points we thought important to include were: explanation of what DDW means, what the DDW is and isn't, the relation of the DDW to the catalog and former gateway. Also we thought a fuller explanation of the terms and facets concept would be helpful with a good analogy if we could come up with one. Revisit the notion that the DDW should contain recommended sources not all resources on a topic (use ALEPH for that)
* Revised DDW vocabulary (explanation of what we did)
* Philosophy for applying Terms Discus the repercussions of assigning too many terms to a resource; give examples
* Introduction of change forms
* Process for requesting changes #2. We looked at the ULON TL drafted that announces the end of our facet and terms definitions work (an overview of the process). We suggested adding wording that lets everyone know that just because someone suggests a change it might not happen. There will be an early vetting process before the term is sent to the NDLIBWWW list. #3. Wording in the proposal for requesting new vocabulary terms will also be changed to reflect the vetting process. The reference to Mandy Havert in the proposal will be changed to LSD in case Mandy's duties change The reference to the ALEPH 14.2 list will be changed to just ALEPH Tom will make changes to all documents discussed and send them out for comment.
