Minutes of the December 8, 2004 TERMinators meetingPresent: Mark Dehmlow, Alan Krieger, Mary Lehman, Tom Lehman, Laurie McGowan, Kathie Ryan-Zeugner, Cheri Smith Prior to the meeting Tom had mailed the group a 4-page document "Suggested Term Definition Changes" for 23 terms. In the meeting we addressed the following terms (shown with their newly agreed upon definition/status): Abbreviations:Collections of shortened words or phrases that represent the words or phrases in their entirety. Alerting services:Electronic updates that provide the latest information regarding library collections, including journal tables of contents and new acquisitions. Arts and entertainment:Lists and descriptions of movies, theater playlists, museums and cultural events of local interest. Associations, societies and institutes:Organizations of interest to academic programs at Notre Dame. Audio recordings:Resources consisting of musical, spoken, or other types of sounds. Books, Electronic:Electronic monographs. Books, Print:Monographs in paper format. Books, Rare[We agreed to drop this term.] Calendars and holidays:Lists of cultural, religious, civic or historical events, arranged by month and day, often with descriptive or background information. Chants:Repetitive, rhythmic utterances or songs. Children's literature:Works written for young persons. Constants, formulae and tables:Resources that feature unchanging numerical values, facts or principles expressed in mathematical symbols, and/or quantitative information presented in tabular form. Consumer information:Resources providing information about products, services or health. Fiction:Invented prose narratives. Journals, Electronic:Periodicals accessed via a computer.
